The most annoying office jargon

Had another "kickstart" meetings with Dr Evil , (my uncle) this morning. This time his finger quotes went into overdrive. Apparently our accounts has been showing that we are "on the runway" still "going forward " we need to "take it to the next level" ! If he doesn't stop using all these buzzwords soon ,he'll give all of us ear injury. He said he like us to "think outside the box", to "reach out" to more of our clients- then he ended it by "lets action that!"- ! I drifted off about 5 mins into his bullshit!

Uncle like to use the phrase "what I like to call" so much that he even started saying it before perfectly normal words like 'results'. When he's home he probably asks his maid for 'what I like to call a cup of tea with what I like to call 2 sugars.'

  1. Talking about "jargons" I really hated the (thinking out of the box ) thingie- totally over used !

  2. The way that really strong words like " innovation" are being turned into nothing more than marketing jargon is BAD. Products, services and companies should earn the right to be deemed innovative.

  3. Nothing can beat " Leverage" - the granddaddy of nouns converted to verbs. ‘Leverage’ is mercilessly used to describe how a situation or environment can be manipulated or controlled. Leverage should remain a noun, as in “to apply leverage,” not as a pseudo-verb, as in “we are leveraging our assets.”

  4. Here's one: " We're not reinventing the wheel" - my boss favourite !
In my head I go silently -" No, we're not."
-but it's damn irritating. He uses that often ....omg !

  5. This guy in the office always go " I seriously think ......." fill in the blanks, to almost everything he says.
Just a while ago, he go.....' I seriously think you should see a doc ' after I almost cough into his face as he was standing so close to me in the pantry! Like.... other times he's not serious at all??? It gets on all our nerves !!!!

  6. Ok this is not really an office jargon but something that many people use & it drives me NUTS. People that ends any sentence with "......... you know what I mean? "

  7. The one that irritates me most is, people go " ...after saying that ....." immediately after they obviously said something! Goodness, just feel like it's a redundancy of words, or they are trying to sound smart or something!!

    1. Agree curse words behind sentences are very bad. Have a friend who uses the "F" word too often that way. It's embarrassing :((

    2. How about the famous "sh-t" after something bad happens? My friend uses that all the time. How to tell her to stop? It's just not nice.

  9. How about the infamous "OMG....." before a sentence? It's pretty ok if you are still a teenager but anyone above 17, shouldn't over use it !
