The most annoying office jargon

Had another "kickstart" meetings with Dr Evil , (my uncle) this morning. This time his finger quotes went into overdrive. Apparently our accounts has been showing that we are "on the runway" still "going forward " we need to "take it to the next level" ! If he doesn't stop using all these buzzwords soon ,he'll give all of us ear injury. He said he like us to "think outside the box", to "reach out" to more of our clients- then he ended it by "lets action that!"- ! I drifted off about 5 mins into his bullshit!

Uncle like to use the phrase "what I like to call" so much that he even started saying it before perfectly normal words like 'results'. When he's home he probably asks his maid for 'what I like to call a cup of tea with what I like to call 2 sugars.'

A day in the office :meetings with Dr Evil

My uncle called for a "kick-start" meeting this morning. Yes both he & me, worked for my dad, but since he is technically older, he's like my manager. Also I only there on partime as I'm still in school. Anyway every time he said kickstart, he did an inverted quotes mime with his fingers , as if the meeting wasn't really called this at all. The action drives me nuts - reminds me of Dr Evil from Austin Powers .....lol... It's basically a pep talk  about how we should all work harder and make more money for my dad & him (my dad gives him generous bonus )

Kim the office bootlicker whooped at the end of every sentence (it's so odd, who does that ?).  I seriously wanted to start kicking her. Maybe that's where the name comes from. Also it's obvious she has a crush on my uncle. He announced that we might have a brand new order from a brand new client. I immediately started thinking of excuses why I couldn't work on it. Then he thank Kim for agreeing to do the leg work. Then I remember my dad saying something about my bonus, so I too became very interested in this new account.

My uncle was overjoyed when I volunteered to work on this & said he was glad that his "kickstart " meetings were already having an effect .
And yes, he did the finger thing again ...omg...

Negative Thinking & hunger

In 3 days time, it's Christmas & then end of the year 2014. Time to reflect on my resolution to be happy & positive all the time.

I don't seem to be doing all that well. Besides me being able to keep slim which makes me very happy, then I remember all the good food I missed out on during gatherings & especially festive celebrations like Christmas or CNY - I got a little sad. Overall I would say I was not a 100%  totally happy & positive for the entire year. What if I'll never get to eat good food again just to stay slim?  Think of all the things I'll missed ! Bak Kwa, fruit cakes, pineapple tarts, love letters, chocolates& more....
Love the crispy & fat ones !!!

But is staying positive all that important though? After all ,if the Greeks & Romans had sat around grinning all day, would they have bothered inventing civilization?

Maybe negative thinking & regrets is the driving force behind all culture ! By demonizing pessimism , could we be forcing ourselves into irreversible decline ? Just thinking out loud- maybe hunger makes a person cranky ...lol...

Super cheap ways to boost your Metabolism

I've good news. I read this somewhere last week. I want to share it with all of you !

Ice Water
Drinking ice water forces your body to burn calories by bringing your body temperature back to normal. Eight glasses of ice water a day works off 70 calories. Drink ice water before a meal to feel fuller quicker. But if you are very weak or old , don’t do it J. This is only for younger & healthy people.

 Oolong Tea
Oolong tea contains polyphenols that help block fat-building enzymes. This young tea is low in caffeine so you can drink it throughout the day for continued results. Research shows that your metabolism will be raised for 2 hours after every cup of Oolong. Not bad right???

Drink Coffee
Coffee is a stimulant that contains caffeine. It can help you stay awake but also boost energy expenditure and speed up metabolism.
Black Pepper

Black pepper contains the alkaloid piperine, which helps speed up metabolism. Add black pepper to tomato juice for a double metabolism boosting effect—tomatoes contain lycopene, an antioxidant that helps protect your mitochondria. Reach for the pepper mill when you’d normally use salt; you’ll boost your metabolism and reduce your sodium intake. Plus it always makes food taste better anyway :))
